Mulford was a key member of the Greyhound soccer and baseball teams. A four-year starter in soccer, he was an integral part of a defensive unit that recorded 26 shutouts. A four-year starter, he helped the Greyhounds to a 49-12-2 mark and four consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament. He earned All-Mason-Dixon Conference honors three times, and was a member of Loyola's M-D Conference titlists in 1974 and 1975. The Greyhounds' tri-captain in 1975, Mulford was drafted by the New Jersey Americans of the American Soccer League. Mulford was also a four-year starter for the Greyhound baseball team. He led the Mason-Dixon Conference in steals each of his four years. Mulford, who spent most of his diamond career in right field, batted .307 in his sophomore season.
