Parr was a baseball standout for the Greyhounds. He was an integral part of the 1943 Greyhound team that won the Mason-Dixon Conference championship. Parr served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-46. He returned to Loyola following his service duty, and was an effective hurler for the 1946 and 1947 Greyhound squads. Parr also played on the Loyola basketball team during the 1944-45 season. He was very active in campus life. Parr helped organize the Block "L" Club and later served as its President. He also helped establish the Senior Block "U Club, now known as the Greyhound Club.
