The four year starter became the first Greyhound named a first-team All-American in 1974. This Baltimore native left without any records to his name, but it was his leadership abilities that led the soccer program to 52-9-2 record. He earned second-team honors 1973. Ernie was a member of the Baltimore Comets of the North American Soccer League in 1974. He made four appearances in the NCAA playoffs between 1971 and 1974. Ernie was a first team All-South Choice and was among the Top twelve (12) in the US, as chosen by The Sporting News.
