Ray was a lacrosse standout in the late 1940's. He entered Loyola College in 1946 following a three-year stay in the Air Force. An outstanding defenseman, he was selected to the All- America team three times, from 1947-49. This gentleman was one of the few players in collegiate history to play in two North-South All Star Games, when he participated after the 1947 and 1949 seasons. Following his Loyola career, he played and coached for the Maryland Lacrosse Club, which he and his father founded in 1941. He also enjoyed a distinguished field hockey career, representing the United States in the Olympic Games of 1952 and 1956. He died in 1980.
