John simply was one of the best backcourt players in Loyola history. From 1975-1979, he was the Greyhounds starting point guard and team leader. During his outstanding four year career, he accumulated 1,049 points, 322 assists and 317 rebounds. He guided the 1977-78 Greyhounds to the ECAC Southern Division Championship. This gentleman was equally impressive off the court. A Dean's list student in each of his eight semesters, he graduated with honors in Business Administration, and was also a member of Alpha Sigma Nu and Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. In 1979, his senior year, he earned the ROTC citizenship award and became the first Loyola Student-Athlete to receive an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. His classroom accomplishments were also recognized by the college Sports Information Directors of America, who selected him to the academic All-American team.
