Jack Cronin was a standout on the Loyola College golf teams from 1948-50. During those three seasons, he played in the number one position and led the Greyhounds to a 24- 8-1 match record, two Mason-Dixon Conference and five team tournament championships, and the Maryland Intercollegiate Invitational title. The Loyola golfers were undefeated in all 21 of the Mason-Dixon matches in which Cronin participated.

He compiled one of the most outstanding individual records ever, winning 26 of the team's 33 matches during his time. The Mason-Dixon individual champion in 1948 and 1949 and a two time team captain, Cronin set the standard for golfing excellence that still exists at Loyola College today.
