NEW YORK – Loyola University Maryland's 4x200-meter relay team knocked more than two seconds off the previous school record on Friday afternoon, highlighting the Greyhounds' day at the Scarlet Knights Open in New York's famed Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory.
Ava Dunn led off the relay and was followed by
Ainsley Jodlbauer,
Taylor McHugh and
Jamie Adams as the quartet ran 1:45.31. The time was good for seventh place in the race and eclipsed the previous school best of 1:47.34 set in 2018.
Olivia Malley,
Meghan Leonard and
Carly Spinnler further wrote their names into the top times list of indoor performances at Loyola with their 600-meter runs on Friday.
Malley took ninth in 1:36.48, the No. 3 time in school history, while Leonard was 19
th in 1:38.89, and Spinnler ran a place behind in 1:40.27. Leonard's time is No. 6 in school history, while Spinnler's is eighth.
Abby Potticary and
Sammie Spargo were 24
th and 28
th, respectively, in the 1,000 meters for Loyola with times of 3:07.57 and 3:11.62.
Melanie Torales was also 30
th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:47.24.
A trio of Greyhounds competed in the 400 meters with
Ajia Morrison's time of 60.18 leading the way in 28
th place.
Lauren Gerow was 62
nd in 66.24, and
Megan McCusker took 66
th in 67.14.
Kylie Maddalena led four Greyhounds in the mile with a time of 5:22.88 to finish 49
th, one spot in front of
Lauren Riddle's finish in 5:23.40.
Marissa Branham Rodriguez took 57
th in 5:40.81, and
Maddie Hyde was 58
th in 5:54.13.
The Greyhounds will continue competition in the Big Apple with the second day of the meet on Saturday.
