Dave Gerrity, a proud Loyola graduate and former Greyhounds student-athlete, has dedicated his career to advancing athletics and student development at Loyola University Maryland. Since joining the university in 1989 as athletic business manager, Gerrity has served in multiple leadership roles, including Assistant Athletic Director and, since 2007, Associate Athletic Director.
In his current role, he supervises men’s soccer, men’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and the Loyola Cheerleading Squad, while also overseeing the athletic department’s human resources program. He collaborates closely with Loyola’s Student Development division and Career Center to integrate student-athletes into campus life and prepare them for future success. Gerrity also works one on one with students to develop leadership skills and create a stronger network by focusing on LinkedIn and other networking opportunities.
He advises the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and coordinates guest speakers on life skills and leadership. He contributed to university-wide initiatives as a member of the Employee Engagement Workgroup, which is focused on helping Loyola become an employer of choice in the Baltimore area. He also served as a mentor in the Messina first-year program. He is also responsible for Title IX and NCAA Attestation review for the department in order to maintain compliance with NCAA rules and federal laws.
A native of Camp Springs, Maryland, Gerrity attended Bishop McNamara High School, where he was a four-year varsity soccer player and team MVP in his senior season. He then earned his bachelor's degree in writing/media arts in 1987 from Loyola College and later his MBA in Management from Loyola’s Sellinger School of Business in 1999. As a student-athlete, he was a four-year letterwinner for Loyola men’s soccer and part of the program’s historic 1986 NCAA Division I Quarterfinal run. Durning a run from October of 1985 until November 1986 the team was unbeaten in 30 straight games (26-0-4).
As a coach, Gerrity founded and led the Loyola women’s soccer program from 1992–1997. Over six seasons, he guided the Greyhounds to six consecutive MAAC championship game appearances, winning titles in 1994 and 1996, and twice earning MAAC Coach of the Year honors.
Gerrity’s career totals with Loyola women’s soccer include an overall record of 71–37–12 and a MAAC Conference record of 32–5–3.
Beyond his professional contributions, Gerrity served as an adjunct faculty member in both Loyola College, where he taught a Sports Writing course, and in the Sellinger School of Business, a Sports Marketing course. He was one of four siblings to graduate from Loyola and he is also the proud parent of two recent Loyola graduates, continuing his lifelong connection to the Evergreen campus. Dave also has a daughter who graduated from the University of South Carolina and another son who is currently a baker and pastry chef for a local Baltimore restaurant. Dave and his wife Robin reside in Mays Chapel, Maryland.
