Lukas Signs National Letter Of Intent With Loyola Volleyball
Nov. 26, 2012
BALTIMORE - Jane Lukas has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Greyhounds' volleyball program in the fall, Head Coach Jake Lawrence announced.
Lukas recently concluded a standout career at Nazareth Area High School where she earned Lehigh Valley Conference All-Star honors as a senior in 2012.
"Jane is going to be a great addition to our program and someone we're excited to have on campus next year," Lawrence said. "She's a highly competitive person and will bring some great athleticism into the gym. She really came on strong last club season and we realized she's someone who'd be a great fit at Loyola. I'm confident that on an experienced team next season she'll compete immediately for playing time at a couple different positions."
A captain for Blue Eagles as a senior, Lukas was named the Bethlehem Express-Times Player of the Week during the season, an honor she also earned as a junior. In addition to her all-star honor as a senior, she was an all-conference honorable mention performer as a junior and earned district all-star laurels.
She competed during the club season for Court Authority Volleyball Academy and helped the program earn an American bid to the Nationals 17s and an open bid to nationals as 15s following a second-place finish at the Northeast Qualifier.
In addition to her time spent on the volleyball court, Lukas has lettered three times in track and field at Nazareth Area.
Lukas will join her older sister, Faye on the Loyola volleyball team. The elder Lukas recently completed her junior season as a Greyhound, a year in which she led Loyola with 3.61 kills per set.
