Volleyball Travels To Upstate New York For Pair Of Weekend Matches
Oct. 31, 2008
Loyola's volleyball hits the road for its final full weekend of regular-season action when it travels to Marist and Siena for a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches.
The Greyhounds, who have won two of their last three matches, take on the Red Foxes in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, then head up the road to Albany, N.Y., for a 2 p.m. Sunday contest at Siena.
Loyola picked up a pair of wins last week, defeating Navy in non-conference road action and toppling Manhattan in four sets at home. The Greyhounds also extended Iona, which entered the match in third place in the conference, to five sets before narrowly losing to the Gaels.
In the win over Manhattan, Loyola had its best offensive game of the season. The Greyhounds hit at a .305 clip in the match, knocking down 65 total kills with only 19 errors.
Kristen Muscarella posted her top game as a collegiate setter, dishing out 53 assists, in just four sets, without a ball-handling error.
Stasia Collins led the Greyhounds with a career-high-tying 16 kills and a career-best .433 hitting percentage. Christina Greenup (15), Nina Camaioni (13) and Karlee Woodward (12) also hit .300 or better in the match and had double-digit kills.
Camaioni picked up MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following the action. She averaged 3.42 kills and 5.08 digs per set during the week.
She also picked up a regional honor, garnering ECAC Division I Co-Player of the Week laurels. The ECAC encompasses almost every NCAA Division I team from conferences including the Atlantic Coast, Colonial Athletic, BIG EAST, America East and Northeast Conference.
