Volleyball Announces 2015 Schedule

BALTIMORE - Alija Pittenger, Loyola University Maryland's first-year head volleyball coach, and the Greyhounds will make home debut on Tuesday, Sept. 1, hosting the first of nine matches at Reitz Arena during the 2015 season.

Loyola will host Howard University that night in its lone non-Patriot League match the Greyhounds will play in Reitz Arena and one of two non-conference contests they have schedule outside of tournament action.

Admission to all home matches is free of charge. The 2015 schedule is subject to change, and times will be disclosed at a later date on

The Greyhounds open the season with a two-day tournament at Robert Morris University where they will face the host Colonials, UMBC and Canisius College on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30.

Following the midweek match against the Bison, Loyola will travel to High Point University in North Carolina to take part in the HPU Classic sponsored by Hampton Inn. There, the Greyhounds will face Georgia State University, South Carolina State University and High Point on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5.

A week later, Loyola will play on the Delmarva Peninsula in the UMES Fall Invitational. The Greyhounds take on Manhattan College, the host Hawks and North Carolina Central University Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12.

Tournament play concludes the following weekend, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, at the University of Delaware Invitational against Sacred Heart University, Morgan State University and the Blue Hens.

A final non-conference match is on the slate Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Nation's Capital against George Washington University.

Loyola starts its third season of action in the Patriot League Friday, Sept. 25, with a match at Lehigh University, and it stays in the Lehigh Valley for a contest the next day at Lafayette College.

The U.S. Military Academy comes to Baltimore to face the Greyhounds on Saturday, Oct. 3, followed a day later by a home match versus College of the Holy Cross.

The Greyhounds then go north to face Bucknell University and Colgate University, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9 and 10, respectively.

American University, the conference's two-time defending champion, visits the Greyhounds on Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Loyola makes the quick trip to Annapolis, Maryland, on Friday, Oct. 16, for a contest at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Back-to-back home matches against Lehigh and Lafayette follow on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24, before the Greyhounds take a road trip to Army West Point on Friday, Oct. 30, and Holy Cross on Halloween.

November action opens against Bucknell and Colgate playing at Loyola on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, respectively, before the Greyhounds make their final regular-season road trip of the year Friday, Nov. 13, to American.

The regular-season closes Saturday, Nov. 14, with a home match against Navy.

The Patriot League's regular-season champion will host both rounds of the Patriot League Championships Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 21-22, with the tournament's winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
