Holy Cross Defeats Volleyball In Final Match Of Season

WORCESTER, Mass. - oyola University Maryland volleyball closed out its season with a three-set loss against College of the Holy Cross on Saturday, 25-14, 25-18, 25-17.

Loyola was led by Mackenzie Fedota with 10 kills. Ashley Kozer had a match-high 23 assists, and Ann Ernst contributed 10 digs.

Katie Kerins led Holy Cross with 10 kills. Shannon Dwyer (17) Kathleen Philo (16) combined for 33 assists, while Sophie VanSeveren had 20 digs and Kerins added 14.

The Crusaders pulled ahead in the first set to lead, 6-1, and extended that advantage to nine, 15-6. After an Ernst kill out of a media timeout, Holy Cross went on a six-point run to increase its lead to 21-7.

The second set had four tie scores before the Crusaders pulled away to take a six-point lead, 17-11. Puddy, Stacey Kazalas and Kozer had kills to get Loyola within four, but Holy Cross scored the next three to close the set and take a two games to none lead in the match.

Holy Cross jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the third and then scored six of the next seven points for a 12-3 advantage that it would not relinquish.
