Baltimore, Md. - Seniors Christina Greenup and Rachel Schillinger had a combined nine kills to take Loyola to a third set victory, but couldn't keep up the offense in the fourth in a 3-1 loss to Saint Peter's, 25-17, 25-20, 19-25, 25-13, Sunday afternoon in conference play.
After putting away 13 kills with just four errors in the third, Loyola (7-24, 3-13 MAAC) hit -0.043 in the fourth, posting 10 errors and only eight kills.
Defensively, the Greyhounds held Saint Peter's (13-17, 7-9 MAAC) to a low hitting percentage throughout the match. Junior Stasia Collins led the team with a career-high 26 digs and Sophomore Brittany Born ended the day with 24.
The Peahens started the first set with a strong offensive front, forcing Loyola errors until Schillinger posted three digs to bring the Greyhounds within six at 20-14. Saint Peter's answered with a couple blocks from sophomore Stephanie Phillips and junior Renata Bauer and closed the set with a 25-17 victory over Loyola.
In the second, sophomore Nina Camaioni had two early kills to put Loyola ahead 7-6 early in the set. The Greyhounds then scored seven of the next 12 points to push the score to 14-11 thanks to Schillinger kills set by junior Kristen Muscarella. Muscarella finished the day with 33 assists. A few quick Loyola errors gave Saint Peter's the chance to take a six point run and grab a 17-14 lead. A late Camaioni kill brought the `Hounds within three, but the Peahens took the 25-20 win.

Saint Peter's bounced back in the final set, taking the lead early. Phillips hit .400 with four kills in the fourth. A double-block from Camaioni and junior Karlee Woodward put the Greyhounds within two, but Phillips and the Peahens took control of the set and finished with a 25-13 victory.
The Greyhounds face Fairfield next Saturday at 12 noon for the final home match of the season.
