BALTIMORE - Three Loyola hitters recorded 13 or more kills, but Iona rallied from an early deficit to beat the Greyhounds, 22-25, 29-27, 26-24, 22-25, 15-11, on Saturday evening in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Reitz Arena.

Nina Camaioni led the Greyhounds (5-21 overall, 1-9 MAAC) with 18 kills, while Christina Greenup had 14, and Stasia Collins recorded 13.

Iona went ahead, 2-0, in the deciding fifth set, as Colleen Genett had a kill from the middle, and she then combined with Sara Wiener for a block on the right side.

Collins, however, put away a kill, and a Wiener attack error tied the score at 2-2.

Wiener responded with a kill, and Nicole Tamburri had a service ace to give Iona (15-8, 7-4) the lead for good.

The Gaels extended their lead to four, 7-3, on an Allison Nieters ace, but Loyola pulled to within two when Wiener served into the net.

Iona, however, pulled back in front by four on two occasions, 10-6 and 13-9. Karlee Woodward's ninth kill of the match pulled Loyola within two, 13-11, but Wiener and Genett had a block, and Wiener put away her match-high 23rd kill for the final point.

She was the only Gaels player to record double-digits in kills, as Molly O'Shea was second with eight. Iona hit .104 as a team, but Wiener swung at a .293 clip with 23 kills and six errors on 58 attempts.

Brittany Born led the Greyhounds with 31 digs, while Camaioni had 23. Greenup pulled up a career-high 20 digs, and Kristen Muscarella tallied the same total. Rachel Schillinger added nine kills for Loyola.

The Greyhounds return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Manhattan at 2 p.m. in Reitz Arena.
