Volleyball Falls to Canisius 3-1

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College volleyball team fell to Canisius 3-1 Sunday afternoon in Reitz Arena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. The Greyhounds fall to 6-17 overall and 4-5 in MAAC play while the Golden Griffs improve to 14-7 on the season and 8-2 in league action.

Loyola took game one by a score of 30-21 but Canisius came back taking game two 30-22, game three 30-17 and game four 30-25.

Sophomore Rachel Schillinger recorded a game-high 20 kills for Loyola with a .389 hitting percentage. She also chipped in a solo block and three block assists. Freshman Karlee Woodward added 14 kills while junior Kim Burton tallied eight and freshman Nicole Scimeme recorded seven.

Freshman setter Chrissey Cruz was credited with a game-high 52 assists.

Senior Blair Snyder tallied a game-high 14 digs while freshman libero Kimi Gabriel added 10.

For Canisius, Leigh Launhardt and Mary Boller each registered 15 kills. Launhardt and Boller recorded hitting percentages of .429 and .414 respectively. Aislinn Hayes added 13 and Jen Smith recorded 10. Brittany Gerde dished out 47 assists. Jess Stackhouse and Jen Smith each recorded 12 digs while Hayes added 10.

The Greyhounds are on the road this week with their first stop at Navy on Tuesday, October 17.
