RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Jac Bullock hit .519 and recorded 16 kills, but Manhattan College swept Loyola University Maryland, 25-17, 31-29, 25-20, on Wednesday night in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.

The Jaspers (11-10 overall, 6-4 MAAC) capitalized on a 70-percent sideout success rate in the first set to win by eight, but the second set would be much closer.

Loyola (11-10, 3-5) went up four, 5-1, thanks to four-straight errors by the Jaspers in the second set, but that is the largest advantage either side would have in the game.

The set featured 10 lead changes and 21 ties, and each team had multiple set-point attempts.

A Bullock kill, which came on a Manhattan blocking error, gave the Greyhounds set-point, 29-28, but Ellie Wiekamp put away a kill for sideout to tie the match at 29-29. Two-straight Loyola attack errors then closed out the set for the Jaspers.

In the third set, Bullock tied the set at 10-10, and she had two more kills, while Faye Lukas added another to give the Greyhounds a 14-10 lead. Manhattan, however, scored five of the next six points to tie the third set at 15-15.

Mindy Maloney had one of her eight kills on the next point to give Loyola a 16-15 advantage, but it would be its final lead of the match.

Lukas had 11 kills and nine digs, while Katie Dircks had seven kills and 17 digs. Janet Pressler added 16 digs, and Lauren Andersen passed out 40 kills.

Mariana Furquim led Manhattan with 13 kills, and Wiekamp added 10 kills.

The Greyhounds continue their roadtrip with matches on Saturday and Sunday at Siena College and Marist College.
