Final Stats

Washington D.C. - Serving and hitting were the strong points for the Greyhounds Wednesday night, at Howard's Burr Gymnasium in D.C., as Loyola (4-5) swept the Bison 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 27-25). The win was the Greyhounds' third straight, as well as Nina Camaioni's sixth straight double-digit kill match.

Camaioni led the way for the Greyhounds with 18 kills, while Katie Dircks and Karlee Woodward each had nine. Loyola out-killed Howard 44-35 and hit .299 as a team, the highest team hitting mark of the season.

Howard (0-8) kept all three sets close and managed a few leads but Loyola's efficient hitting kept the Bison from building a lead. With every lead Howard took, the Greyhounds rallied back and surpassed the Bison in their home opener.

Game three left little room to breathe for both teams. Three points was the largest lead of the set and both Loyola and Howard fell victim to sloppy play. Camaioni tied the game at 23-23 with a kill but both teams failed to put the set away. A string of four straight service errors (two by Howard's Gazelle d'Artois and one each by Christina Dollings and Brittany Born) was finally broken up by an ace by Aubrey Kirven, her fifth of the night. One last Camaioni kill then won the match for the Greyhounds.

Loyola will finish its 12-game road trip this weekend in North Carolina at the Duke Invitational, before returning home to play Coppin State in next week's home opener at Reitz Arena.
