Seven-Straight Points To Close Match Seals Volleyball Win

BOONE, N.C. - Loyola University Maryland scored the last seven points of the deciding fifth set on Saturday morning, sealing the Greyhounds first win of the 2013 season, 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 15, 25, 15-5, over Norfolk State University at the Appalachian State Invitational.
The Greyhounds, who lost the rubber match of the event in four to Sam Houston State University, 25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, won the first two sets against Norfolk State before dropping two in a row.
Loyola (1-2 overall) took an 8-3 lead in the fifth set, and after the Spartans drew to within three, the Greyhounds tallied the match's final seven points for the win.
The Greyhounds took control of the Norfolk State match early behind the hitting of Mindy Maloney, Jac Bullock and Simone Reid. Maloney finished the invitational as one of the Greyhounds top hitters and earned All-Tournament Team honors.
