Loyola Volleyball vs. UNC-Wilmington
Loyola volleyball opened its 2016 season on Sept. 2 with a three-set win over Delaware State.
2016 (Sophomore): Led Loyola in total blocks (84) and blocks per set (0.84)… Was fifth in the Patriot League in total blocks and eighth in blocks per set… Also had 171 kills, 1.80 per set, and hit .226… Started all 27 matches and played in all 95 sets… Hit .400 with eight kills to go with two blocks against Akron (9/3)… Had four solo blocks at UConn (9/9)… Posted seven kills against Yale (9/10)… Registered eight blocks to go with 10 kills and a .471 hitting percentage against Hampton (9/16)… Had a career-high nine kills against Lafayette (9/23)… Logged 11 kills and hit .391 in a four-set win at Holy Cross (9/30)… Posted a season-high 13 kills and six blocks against Bucknell (10/8)… Had 10 kills at Lafayette (10/22)… Was a part of five blocks versus Holy Cross (10/29)… Posted six total blocks, three solo, and eight kills in a four-set win at Bucknell (11/4).
2015 (Freshman): Had an excellent first season for the Greyhounds, starting all 31 matches and playing in 108 sets… Voted the team's Most Valuable Player... Led the team and was sixth in the Patriot League in blocks per set (0.99) and pad 107 total to pace the Greyhounds… Hit a team-high .266 while averaging 2.45 kills per set for a total of 265… Had back-to-back double-digit kill outings to start her career with 11 against UMBC and 10 at Robert Morris (8/29)… With eight kills against Canisius (8/30), she totaled 29 kills and 11 blocks, hitting .324, to earn All-Tournament honors at the Robert Morris Invitational… Hit .429 and also had four blocks against the Retrievers… Logged six blocks, two solo, at High Point (9/4)… Swung at a .429 clip with 15 kills on 28 attempts in a four-set win over South Carolina State (9/5)… Also had a season-high three service aces against the Bulldogs… Had 12 kills and seven total blocks against Manhattan (9/11) and came back the next day to post a season-high 17 kills at Maryland Eastern Shore (9/12)… Finished the tournament with 10 errorless kills and a .455 hitting percentage against North Carolina Central (9/12)… Earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors following that weekend’s performance… Had 10 kills and a season-high eight blocks against Sacred Heart (9/18)… Posted 11 kills in back-to-back road matches at George Washington (9/22) and Lehigh (9/25)… Had 11 kills while hitting .450 in a three-set win over Holy Cross (10/4)… Recorded 12 kills at Colgate (10/10)… Had seven blocks at home versus Lafayette (10/23).
Before Loyola: Earned four letters in volleyball at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, Texas… Posted a .430 hitting percentage with 207 kills and 81 blocks as a senior in 2014 while earning Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 5A All-State First Team honors… Was Bishop Lynch’s offensive player of the year and garnered recognition on the TAPPS 5A All-State Tournament Team and the All-District First Team… Helped the Friars win the TAPPS 5A state title three straight years from 2012-2014… As a senior, her team was ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 80 nationally… Was an All-District Honorable Mention player as a junior in 2013… Played club volleyball for Skyline Juniors, helping the program to a 13th place finish at the Junior Olympic National Championships in 2015.
Personal: Haley Nicole Puddy… Daughter of Stacy and Glenn Puddy… Earned Academic Honor Roll recognition all four years in high school and was the school’s student council vice president from 2012-2014… Earned honorable mention on the National Spanish Exam and was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Spanish Honor Society and the National English Honor Society… Her father was a standout basketball player at Southern Methodist University and went to training camp with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves before embarking on a nine-year European professional career.
