Women's Indoor Track and Field Picked Eighth

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team was picked to finish eighth in the indoor preseason Patriot League poll, released today by the league office.
Last season Loyola finished fifth at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. The Greyhounds totaled 50.5 points, led by Jackie D'Antonio in the 800m. The mid-distance runner became the second Greyhound in program history to win an indoor conference title. D'Antonio recorded a school-record time of 2:13.92.
Bucknell University was picked to finish first with 14 first-place votes and 155 points. The United States Naval Academy followed with 144 points and five first-place votes, while fellow league newcomer Boston University received the remaining first-place vote and 130 points. Lehigh University (116) picked up fourth place in the poll, followed by The United States Military Academy (95), College of the Holy Cross (79), Lafayette College (63), the Greyhounds (46), Colgate University (42) and American University (30).
Loyola opens its 2012-13 indoor season today, Friday, Dec. 6, at the Fast Times Before Finals meet in Bethlehem, Pa. The indoor season will be capped off with the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships at Bucknell on February 21-23.
