Track and Field Indoor Scrimmage Hosted By Navy
Nov. 13, 2013
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Loyola University Maryland track and field paired up with fellow Patriot League member, the United States Naval Academy, to compete in the Navy Blue and Gold scrimmage on Tuesday evening.
"Overall it was a great scrimmage," said Head Coach Amy Horst. "I think we are in a great position, and our sprints really dominated. It was exciting to see Loyola's banner hanging up at Navy. The Patriot League produces great competition, and this will be an exciting new era for our program."
Sophomore Jeanine Gill highlighted the evening's events, taking first in the 200m (26.06) and 400m (1:00.94) dash. The sprinter was .04 seconds from tying the program best, a record that she set during the 2012-13 season.
Freshman Crystal Godette also gave a solid performance, finishing behind Gill in the 60m (8.21) and 200m (26.47) events.
Three Greyhounds competed in the 60m hurdles, as Eilis McGovern lead the pack in a time of 10.21. Seniors Jacqueline Porter and Courtney Willeford finished seventh and eighth, respectively, coming across the finish line at 10.50 and 11.14.
Junior Maria Hacker took sixth in the pole vault, with a height of 2.55m, while rookie Isabela Ugarte made her debut finishing fifth in the triple jump (10.08m).
The Greyhounds open the 2013 indoor season on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Fast Times Before Finals hosted by Lehigh University.
