Baltimore, Md. - Junior Melanie Mitchell has been named the MAAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week after her performance at the Goucher Track Classic last Saturday. Mitchell, who set a school record en route to taking gold in two events, led the Greyhounds on a successful day at Goucher.

Mitchell won both the long jump and javelin events for the Greyhounds. Her leap of 15-6 in the long jump set a school record, while her winning distance in the javelin measured 109 feet. Mitchell also took second in the high jump, clearing a height of 4-10.25, and finished fourth in the shot put with a put of 29-8.

Mitchell is Loyola's second MAAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and first this outdoor season. Senior Andrea Rovegno garnered indoor track honors from the MAAC back on February 12.
