Track and Field Picked Ninth In Outdoor Preseason Poll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women’s track and field team was picked to finish ninth in the outdoor preseason Patriot League poll, released today by the league office.
Last season Loyola finished fifth at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. The Greyhounds totaled 74 points, the most points of any Loyola team in past championship history.
Boston University was picked to finish first with 15 first-place votes and 157 points. Lehigh University (133) and the United States Naval Academy (129) picked up two first-place votes each, while Bucknell University (127) received the remaining first-place vote. College of the Holy Cross (93) picked up fifth place in the poll, followed by the United States Military Academy (87), Lafayette College (71), Colgate University (47), Loyola (36) and American University (20).
The Greyhounds opened the 2014 outdoor season at Navy’s Spring Invitational last Saturday, finishing sixth with 13.5 points. Loyola will cap of the season taking part in its first ever Patriot League Outdoor Championships May 2-3.
