McGinn Earns Patriot League Female Runner Of The Week Honors
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Cordelia McGinn was named the Patriot League Women's Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week on Tuesday after setting her third Loyola University Maryland record of the season last week.
McGinn set her third school record of the indoor season, each in a different event, on Thursday as she won the 1,000 meters at Navy's Multi-Mix Invitational. She ran 2:51.73 in the race, edging the University of Delaware's Elizabeth McGroarty (2:52.49), while improving her ECAC Championships Qualifying Time.
McGinn's performance bested the previous school record of 2:52.17, set on March 1, 2013, by Jackie D'Antonio.
Previously this year, she set school-bests in the 800-meter and mile runs, events she is also qualified for the ECAC Championships in. Her award is the first Patriot League weekly award for the Greyhounds since joining the conference in 2013-2014.
Loyola will compete at the Patriot League Championships at Bucknell University this weekend, starting on Saturday afternoon in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
