PR's Kick Off The Indoor Season For McGovern and Porter
Dec. 7, 2013
BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Loyola University Maryland women's track and field team opened the 2013-14 season Saturday afternoon at the Fast Times Before Finals meet at Rauch Field House. Junior Eilis McGovern and senior Jacqueline Porter highlighted the day's events with personal bests in the 60m hurdles.
McGovern finished 14th with a time of 10.01, shaving .07 seconds off her previous PR from the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Championships. Following close behind, Porter took 15th out of 22 hurdlers. The senior competitor came across the finish line in 10:08, improving her PR by four-hundredths of a second.
Sophomore Jeanine Gill recorded the top finish for Loyola, taking fifth out of 37 participants in the 200m-dash. Gill recorded a time of 26.25, while also finishing in the top-10 of the 60m-dash with a time of 8.08. The sprinter was five-hundredths of a second from a new personal best in the event.
Members of the 2017 freshman class gained much experience at their first collegiate meet. Crystal Godette, Jessa Laspesa and Isabela Ugarte finished within the top-20 of their respective events, while classmate Claire Scavone gained experience from her first collegiate race.
Off the track, junior Kelly Hilbert tied her personal best in the long jump. The veteran jumper recorded a distance of 4.71m, which she first set as a freshman at the 2012 MAAC Indoor Championships.
The Greyhounds return back to action after the New Year, competing at Penn State National on Wednesday, Jan. 1.
