BETHLEHEM, Pa. - A contingent of Loyola University Maryland sprinters and field-event competitors opened the 2012-2013 indoor track and field season Friday at the Lehigh Season-Opener.
Courtney Willeford had the top throw in the pentathlon shot put with a mark of 32-feet, 1.5-inches, and the junior finished sixth overall in the pentathlon with 2,209 points.
Uchechukwu Emili took seventh in the weight throw (36-9), setting a school record in the process, and Alessandra Piscitelli was two places behind (32-3.75), and Emili was also seventh in the shot put (32-11.75).
Emma Mascoli had the top finish for Loyola in the horizontal jumps, taking third in triple jump, leaping 32-8.5. Kelly Hilbert was right behind, taking fourth at 31-11.25. Hilbert finished fourth in the long jump (15-3.50), while Mascoli was sixth (14-5.75).
In the running events, the Greyhounds' 4x400-meter relay team of Jacqueline Porter, Marissa Buccellato, Lisa Potter and Megan Trainer took third in 4:12.20.
Porter was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 10.26, while Ellis McGovern was sixth in 10.48. Porter and Potter also logged top-five finishes in the 400 meters with Porter taking fourth (63.04) and Potter fifth (63.28).
Jeanine Gill opened her collegiate career with a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters, running 27.33.
