LEWISBURG, Pa. - A pair of Loyola University Maryland women’s track relay teams set new school records in the 4x400 and 4x100m on the final day of the Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday afternoon at Bucknell’s Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

Freshmen Devon Terwilliger and Molly Smith, along with junior Jessa Laspesa and sophomore Emma Dunleavy combined to record Loyola’s top finish of the weekend, taking sixth in the 4x400m relay. The Greyhounds finished ahead of Lehigh, Colgate and Bucknell with a program-record time of 3:54.60.

Laspesa also ran the first leg of the 4x100, helping freshman Erin Gamble, junior Claire Scavone and freshman Olivia Airhart break the school record in 48.93. The quartet took seventh overall.

In the individual performances, Terwilliger contributed two team points after finishing seventh in the 400m hurdles. The rookie ran the event in 1:03.82, topping her previous personal record by nearly one second. Classmate Christa Sidoti also set a PR in the same event, crossing the finish line in 1:06.72.

Junior Sarah Askine was the final Greyhound to contribute to the team’s overall point total. The veteran distance runner finished eighth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:36.55. She dropped more than seven seconds off of her previous record, which was set at the team’s home meet in mid-April.

Fellow distance runners, freshmen Mary Sutton and MaryEllen Woods, ran PRs in the 3,000m steeplechase and 800m, respectively. Sutton crossed the finish line in 11:58.08, while Woods came in at 2:16.77.

Prior to setting a new school record in the 4x400m relay, Dunleavy ran the individual 400m race in a personal-best time of 58.90. Senior Brianna Nelson also competed in the same event, setting a personal record with a time of 1:00.64.

Off the track, freshman Anne Lauder broke Loyola’s triple jump record for the third time this season. The rookie bested her previous mark of 10.51m with a distance of 10.94m.

As a team, the Greyhounds turned in their best-ever finish, checking in ninth overall, ahead of Colgate, with 10 team points. Host Bucknell won the championship with 201.5 points, while Boston University and Lehigh rounded out the top three with 161 and 148.5 points, respectively.
