Rovegno Wins 5000-Meter Run At MAAC Track And Field Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Junior Andrea Rovegno earned first place in the 5000 meter run to lead the Greyhound women's track and field team to a fifth place finish at the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Track and Field Championships held at Rider University on Sunday afternoon.
The Greyhounds earned 47 points to take fifth place in the conference meet, while Manhattan earned the team title with a score of 284 points.
Rovegno, who earned the title for the second straight year, earned the victory in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:12.61.
Sophomore Michelle McVann finished in third place in the 1500 meter run to lead three Greyhounds in the top 10, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:52.29. Freshman Maureen Wynne earned fifth place with a time of 4:59.65, while Bethany Gentry took eighth place with a mark of 5:04.49.
Freshman Kelly Wolf recorded an eighth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.96 while Caroline Scott took fourth place in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:24.32. McVann finished ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:26.96.
Nicole Gilhuley earned fifth place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.81. Junior Jaime Humphrey earned 12th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of :27.95 to go with a ninth place showing in the 100 meter dash (:13.84).
After finishing in seventh place in the javelin throw on Saturday, freshman Melanie Mitchell tied for 10th place in the high jump with a height of 1.50 meters before recording a 12th place throw in the shot put (9.38m).
