Track & Field Sets Four School Records At MAAC Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland women's track & field team set four school records and placed fifth at the 2012 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J.
The Greyhounds totaled 55.5 points to finish ahead of Marist, while Saint Peter's claimed the title.
Jackie D'Antonio and Jacqueline Porter each reset their own school records in their respective events, while the 4x400-relay team also clocked a record-setting time on the second day of competition. The three records on Sunday added to Alessandra Piscitelli, who set the school record in the hammer throw on Saturday.
D'Antonio finished seventh in the 800-meter run while beating her own previous best by more than three seconds, registering a time of 2:15.34.
Porter reset the school record in the 400-meter hurdles for the third time this year, finishing sixth in 1:06.77.
Gabrielle Cocco turned-in a pair of solid performances, finishing sixth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:43.55 and fifth in the 5,000 in 18:05.48. The fifth-place finish was the highest individual finish on the track for Loyola.
Freshmen Anna Bosse and Jennifer Zahn joined Cocco in the 1,500 and each set PRs.
Marissa Buccellato also registered points for Loyola with an eight-place finish in the 400, running a personal-best time of 1:01.42. Stephanie Bahneman also had a PR in the event while finishing 10th.
Noreen Petrash had the highest individual finish for any Greyhound, taking fourth in the pole vault with a heigh of 2.65 meters.
Alyssa Harrison took sixth in the high jump while matching her personal best mark at 1.55 meters.
Freshman Alessandra Piscitelli scored a point with her eighth-place finish in the discus, tossing a career-best 31.35 meters. Sophomore Courtney Willeford also had a PR in a throwing event with a mark of 9.90 meters in the shot put.
Loyola also added 13 athletes to the MAAC All-Academic team:
