Steeplechasers Score 15 Points On MAAC Championships 1st Day

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Three Loyola University Maryland runners track and field athletes a total of 15 points in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, helping the Greyhounds finish the first day of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships in fifth place on Saturday evening.
Anna Bosse led the way in the event for the Greyhounds, taking second place in 11:19.16, while Kellyanne Bondulich finished fourth in a personal-best time of 11:40.28, and Calli Pappas was seventh, also running a personal best (12:06.48).
"It was a very competitive race, and Anna, Kellyanne and Calli did a great job of positioning themselves," said Head Coach Amy Horst.
Courtney Willeford placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 32.54m, while Alessandra Piscitelli reset her own school record in the hammer throw, finishing 11th with a toss of 35.48m, and Uchechukwu Emii was 14th at 32.53m.
Emma Mascoli set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 4.71m to finish 16th, and Kelly Hilbert was 18th in the same event at 4.48m. The 4x800-meter relay team of Alyssa Dorney, Elizabeth Sypek, Margaret Larkin and Sara Gilson claimed sixth in 10:12.25.
Rider leads the women's team race with 59 points, holding a one-point advantage over Saint Peter's. Iona is in third with 42 points, followed by Manhattan (36), Loyola (26) and Marist (10).
The competition resumes Sunday morning at 11 o'clock from Rider.
