Truncellito Wins Steeplechase At Maryland Terrapin Invitational
April 4, 2004
COLLEGE PARK, MD - Loyola's Jackie Truncellito won the 3,000-meter steeplechase for her third win in as many meets as the Greyhound track team, with a split squad, faced some of its toughest competition to date at Saturday's Maryland Terrapin Invitational.
Despite running through some harsh weather conditions, Truncellito opened up the meet for Loyola with a victory in the steeplechase as she knocked off last year's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) champion from Maryland in the event with her time of 11:39.
Martha Wagner recorded a personal best in the 100-meter dash as she blazed to a time of 13.3 seconds.
"They all looked good and are gaining more confidence with every practice and every meet," said Loyola Head Coach Chris Bayless after the competition.
