Gibbs, Trainer Set School Track Records at Navy

Annapolis, Md. - Whitney Gibbs broke a school-record in her first place finish in the 100m as the Loyola track & field team took second place in their outdoor season opener at the Navy Invitational. Megan Trainer also shattered the school record in the hammer throw.
Gibbs' time of 12.35 in the 100m bested the old record of 12.65, which Eve Mizerak ran at the 2007 MAAC Championships. She also finished fifth in the 200m (26.32) and anchored the 4x100 relay to a second place finish.
Trainer finished seventh in the hammer throw with a 29.72m toss, shattering the old record of 28.60m recorded by Suzanne Mufareh at the 2005 conference championships. She also placed sixth in the shot put (8.20m) and discus (23.69m).
Lauryn Granara (13.07) and Paige Godfrey (14.19) also scored points for the `Hounds in the 100m with fifth and eighth place finishes, respectively. Granara took seventh in the 200m (27.14) as well and fifth in the long jump (4.87m).
Kelsey Burke took fifth in the 100m hurdles (16.63) and fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:12.83).
Samantha Westley ran the first leg of the second-place finishing 4x100 relay and was followed by Granara, Krupa and Gibbs.
Kim Amaducci led Loyola in the high jump (5'1").
The Greyhounds are back on the track next Saturday, March 27 when they travel to Johnny Unitas Stadium for the Towson Invitational.
