Women's Track & Field Closes Indoor Regular-Season At Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Loyola University Maryland women’s track & field team closed out its indoor regular-season at the Navy Sweetheart Meet on Thursday night in Annapolis, Md. It was the final tune-up for the Greyhounds before heading to the MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Armory in New York on Feb. 17.
Courtney Willeford got the day started on the right track for Loyola, running a personal-record time of 10.34 second in the 60-meter hurdles as part of the pentathlon. Willeford finished the pentathlon in eighth with 2,332 points in her first time competing in the event.
Megan Trainer, Marissa Buccellato, Kristina Krupa and Jackie D’Antonio highlighted the night for Loyola with a first-place finish in the sprint medley relay, setting a school record with a time of 4:20.07.
Buccellato also had a career-best time in the 400 of 1:02.38 to come in 12th. Krupa was the top Greyhound in the 400, finishing seventh with a time of 1:02.15. Nicole Lopez and Kellyanne Bondulich also had career bests in the race, with Lopez finishing eithth in 1:02.19 and Bondulich placing 19th in 1:03.64.
Freshman Anna Bosse won her heat and beat her career best in the mile by almost five full seconds, crossing the finish line in 5:25.78 to place fifth. Emily Doucette was the top Loyola runner in the event, coming in fourth in 5:20.45.
Samantha Westley had a pair of top-six finishes, running a career-best time of 8.25 in the 60-meter dash to take sixth, and coming just shy of resetting her school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.36 to finish fourth.
In the field events, freshman Alessandra Piscitelli took fourth in the weight throw with a career-best toss of 10.30 meters.
The Greyhounds head to the MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Armory in New York City on Friday, Feb. 17.
