Jeff Eldred enters his second year as an Assistant Coach with the Greyhounds and will specialize in sprints and relays.

He comes to Loyola after spending 15 years coaching track and field at the junior high and high school levels. In the four years prior to coming to Loyola, he coached the throwing events for both boys and girls at Old Mill High School in Anne Arundel County where many of his athletes have scored at the Maryland State Track and Field Championships.

Prior to that, he coached for five years at North County High School where he led all of the field events and again had many athletes reached the State Championship Meet.

Before moving to Maryland, Eldred coached in Memphis, Tenn., where he was the head coach of the girls teams at Havenview Junior High and then at Memphis Central High School where his girls finished ninth at the 1999 State Championship Meet. Many of his athletes moved on to compete at the college level.

Edlred earned his bachelor of science degree in physical education from The University of Memphis and received a teaching certificate after completing 36 hours of graduate work in education. Jeff is a C.S.C.S. (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

He is also a USATF Level I and Level II certified coach. Presently, he is working on a masters of science in sport coaching through the United States Sports Academy.

Eldred is currently a physical education teacher at Hilltop Elementary in Anne Arundel County. He lives in Brooklyn, Md., with his wife, Julia, and their three young children, Lindsey, Craig and Patrick.
