Wilhelm Wins First Round Singles Match At West Virginia's Martha Thorn Invitational

Morgantown, W.V. - Amanda Wilhelm was the lone Greyhound to advance to the second round as she defeated George Mason's Bridget Borley 10-8 at this weekend's very rainy Martha Thorn - West Virginia Invitational.

Wilhelm's winning ways ended in the second round when she fell to Pittsburgh's Sotera Gacad-Cowen, 10-5.

West Virginia's Ashley Constantine beat Loyola's Meaghan McKenna in the Flight B singles bracket by a score of 10-3, Loyola's Caitlin LaRocco dropped her Flight B match to Villanova's Tarya Cappelini 10-3, and Loyola's Claire Najour lost her Flight B match 10-4 to Pittsburgh's Leah Friedman. The Greyhounds' Janet Reuter fell to the Mountaineers' Stacey Percival 10-1 in Flight C while Mallory Tarca lost to Nova's Katie Fleszar in the same flight, 10-7.

The Greyhounds' Laura Cuti and Christi Lazar withdrew before the conclusion of their first round matches.
