Women's Tennis Earns Second Win of Season over Robert Morris, Men Fall to 1-1

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Loyola tennis split against Robert Morris Sunday, in Moon Township, Pa., with the women earning their second win of the season with a 6-1 victory over the Colonials and the men falling 4-3 to move to 1-1 in the fall.
In women's singles action, Rachel Jansek started the Greyhounds off with a 6-1, 6-1 win. Scarlet Hoy and Judy Lite followed up with 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2 wins. Caitlyn Day and Jackie Lionetta both shut out their opponents, with both of them winning their respective matches 6-0, 6-0.
Janseck and partner Kerri Swan started Loyola out with a win in doubles defeating their opponents 8-1. Hoy and Lite edged their opponents 8-3.
The men played tough against the Colonials, and head coach Rick McClure had nothing but praise for freshman Bobby Gorczakowski. Gorczakowski and partner Matt McDaniel were the only duo to get a doubles win in, defeating their opponents 8-3.
Gorczakowski battled for over two hours in his singles match, but dropped a heartbreaking super tiebreaker to go down 6-2, 5-7 (6-4).
Pierce Norton and Tim Koch as well pushed through to super tiebreakers both coming out on top. Norton defeated his opponent 4-6, 6-3 (6-4) and Koch defeated his 6-2, 2-6 (6-0).
Matt McDaniel went 2-0 on the day, winning his singles match 6-2, 6-3.
Both teams will compete in the Bucknell Invitational next weekend to close out fall tournament play.
