Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Greyhounds and Mountaineers will square off in the first round of the NCAA College Cup Friday, November 13 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The opening kick is slated for 3:00 pm at Wake Forest's Spry Stadium. Fans can follow the play-by-play on GameTracker at www.loyolagreyhounds.com.

College Cup Notes:
• This is the Greyhounds seventh NCAA College Cup appearance and first since 2007.
• Loyola is 0-6-0 all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Greyhounds enter the Field of 64 on a program-record 14-game unbeaten streak (12-0-2).
• The 15 victories in 2009 is the second-most in team history with the high being 16, which was set in 2004 (L, 4-0 at Maryland in NCAA 1st Round).
• Loyola is 2-12-1 all-time against teams currently in the BIG EAST
• Loyola is 1-2-1 against the 2009 NCAA College Cup field with a win at High Point, losses at Wake Forest and Maryland, and a tie with Boston University.
• Today's 23rd game of the season is the most any Loyola women's soccer team has played.
• Both teams played NCAA-bound Boston University this season, and both teams ended up tying the Terriers.
• No team from the MAAC has ever advanced to the second round of the NCAA College Cup.
• Should Loyola advance, the `Hounds are 1-2 all-time against Wake Forest and have never played Kennesaw.

Scouting The Mountaineers:
• West Virginia holds a 2-0-0 series advantage over the Greyhounds, with both wins coming in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. This will be the first time the teams will square off away from Morgantown, W.V.
• Much of the offense will go through midfielders Caroline Szwed and first-team All-Big East selection Carolyn Blank, who have combined for four goals and six assists. Megan Mischler led the team with five goals, while Blank and Blake Miller have three goals apiece.
• WVU has allowed just 13 goals all season, thanks to 11 shutouts by goalkeeper Kerri Butler. Butler's 0.59 GAA is 21st in the country.

`Hounds Hodgepodge:
• Loyola is unbeaten when Nichole Schiro scores at least one point (11-0-2).
• The Greyhounds are a perfect 13-0-0 when they outshoot their opponent.
• Ten of Loyola's 15 wins were one-goal games. The `Hounds are 10-1 in one-goal games with the loss coming to Wake Forest.
• Playing in today's game, Theresa Ferraina will have played in more games than any women's soccer player in program-history (83 games).

Vote For "T"
• Forward Theresa Ferraina was named one of ten finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award October 5. Fans may vote for `T' once-a-day on www.seniorclassaward.com or text W4 to 74567 until November 13.
• Ferraina is second on the team in points (17), goals (7) and game-winners (3) and was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year. Ferraina leads the team with 70 shots on the season.
• One of two players in Loyola history with at least 25 goals and 15 goals in a career.

"Super Scintillating Sensational" Schiro
• As a freshman, Nichole Schiro led the team in points (24), goals (9) and game-winning goals (5), helping her garner MAAC All-Rookie Team honors.
• Schiro recorded six goals, four game-winners and 16 points in conference play, all of which led the MAAC. Her four assists in MAAC games were tied for second in the league with teammate Kelly Thomas.

Charm City Child
• Freshman Gianna (`Gigi') Mangione, the 2009 MAAC Championships MVP, was born and raised in Baltimore, Md. and went to the McDonough School, where she was a First-Team All-American as a senior and the Baltimore County Player of the Year in both her junior and senior seasons.
• GG's father, Nick Mangione, is currently the Loyola men's soccer program fourth all-time leading scorer and was a professional soccer player for the Baltimore Blast and the Kansas City Comets.
• Older brother's Nino (2005-08) and Marco (2007-present) played men's soccer at cross-town rival, Towson University.
• The Mangione Aquatic Center, the home of the Loyola's swimming & diving teams, is named after the Mangione family.

Fab Freshman
• Freshmen Nichole Schiro (9g, 6a) and Lauren Norcia (3a) have played in all 22 games this season for the Greyhounds. Tessa McClenahan (3g, 2a) missed only one, Jennifer Thornton (9 shots) has played in 19, Gianna Mangione (2g, 1a) in 18 and Kelsey Donohue (6 shots) appeared in 11.
• The sextuplet has combined for 14 goals, 12 assists and 93 shots. McClenahan won the conference Rookie of the Week honor on August 31 and Schiro won the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on October 19. Schiro, Norcia and McClenahan were all named to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

Kelly Kelly
• A pair of juniors, midfielder Kelly Farrell and defender Kelly Thomas have been vital to the team's success this season. Farrell, who has two goals and three assists on the season, recorded the game-winning goals at High Point and Canisius and assisted on the game-tying and winning goals vs. Lafayette. Farrell was named Second-Team All-MAAC.
• Thomas, perhaps one of the most consistent players for Loyola so far this season, has three goals and a Loyola single-season record eight assists.

From North Carolina, Number 23...Christina Gomez
• Probably not the number 23 from North Carolina that immediately comes to mind, but Christina Gomez is one of the most prolific scorers in Loyola history.
• Gomez' six goals are third on the team this season, while her 13 points are fourth. The Second-Team All-MAAC selection enters NCAA play tied for fifth all-time at Loyola with 24 goals and alone in fifth with 60 career points.

Dynamic Defenders
• The senior duo of defenders Heather Cooke (1g, 2a) and Amanda Meehan (1a) have been key in the Greyhounds allowing just 1.14 goals per game, to go with nine shutouts.
• A center back, Cooke is one of just four `Hounds to start every game this season, while Meehan started in all 18 games she has appeared.
• Cooke was named First-Team All-MAAC after being named to the Second-Team the last two seasons. Meehan is a three-time All-Academic Team selection and was an All-Rookie selection in 2006.
