Schiro Receives MAAC Honors After Recording Hat Trick
Oct. 22, 2012
EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland senior Nichole Schiro was named Offensive Player of the week by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Monday after scoring goals and recording an assist over the weekend.
The Michigan native had a big weekend against Niagara University, recording the second hat trick of her career, and followed with a goal and assist against Canisius College, both Loyola victories.
Schiro scored four of the seven goals posted by the Greyhounds this past weekend. Her hat trick led Loyola to a 3-0 victory over the Purple Eagles, and three of Schiro's nine points came from Sunday's game against Canisius, when she scored one goal and had one assist.
This season, Schiro leads Loyola and the MAAC with 13 goals and 30 points.
The two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Year has received eight weekly honors, her last coming off of a double-overtime win against Saint Joseph's in September.
Schiro and the Greyhounds will finish up the regular season on the road against Marist College on Friday at 7 p.m. and Siena College Sunday at 1 p.m.
