LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - The Loyola College women's soccer team earned their fourth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and third consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 win over Niagara Sunday afternoon at Rider University.

The game was decided early with a goal from freshman Caitlin McCusker at 19:36 on a pass from classmate Courtney Arikian from 18 feet out for the game winner. Sophomore Naomi Daniels added an insurance goal at 33:24, assisted by Jeannetta McGettigan.

Niagara's keeper Katy Owings made 11 saves in goal. Loyola's keeper Kate Gilfillan and the defensive unit deserve much of the credit for the win, stifling Niagara's offensive attack and allowing just one shot to their own 26.

Carolyn Kennington of Loyola was named the 2003 MAAC Women's Soccer Championship Most Valuable Player. Kennington finished the tournament with three assists and one goal. Joining Kennington on the All-Tournament Team were Loyola teammates Katie Elliott, Naomi Daniels, Jeannetta McGettigan, Ashley Kramer and Lindsay Tracey.

The Greyhounds now stand at 12-8-1 overall and will learn their fate in the national tournament when the NCAA selection show airs Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
