POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Kelsey Rene scored in the 71st minute, heading in a Melissa Lookingland free kick, and the Loyola University Maryalnd women's soccer team beat Fairfield Unviersity, 1-0, in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinals to advance to Sunday's championship game.

Loyola (11-5-4 overall) will face the winner of Marist College and Iona College at 1 o'clock on Sunday.

After a first half that saw Fairfield (11-6-2) outshoot the Greyhounds, 9-1 and 3-1 in shots on goal, Loyola broke through just over midway through the second period.

Lookingland sent a free kick into the box, and Rene headed it in from five yards out.

Didi Haracic, the MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year, recorded the clean sheet in goal for Loyola, delivering three saves in the first half and seven total.

"Fairfield out shot us in the first half, but Didi Haracic came up with some big saves," said head coach Katherine Remy Vettori. "We came out in the second half ready to play, and we did so when Kelsey Rene made the sole goal of the game. We were then able to maintain our composure, and finish out the game with a win."

Fairfield finished with a 16-7 advantage in shots and major lead in corner kicks, 11-1.

However, Rene's goal lifted Loyola into the MAAC Championship Game for the 17th time in program history (since 1992).
