NIAGARA FALLS, NY - The Loyola College women's soccer team used an early second half rally to defeat Niagara, 2-1, and hold on to a first place finish in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds stayed undefeated in MAAC play at the close of the regular season at 8-0-1 and 10-8-1 overall. The Purple Eagles, who with a win would have tied Loyola for first place, finish the regular season at 8-7-3 and 6-2-1 overall.

After a scoreless first half, Loyola defender Lindsay Tracey scored her first goal of the season at 56:28. Tracey's goal came after a scramble in front of the goal that left her open to shoot into the upper corner of the goal, betting Niagara keeper Alyana Loiselle.

Just two and a half minutes later, senior Katie Elliott gave the greyhounds an insurance goal with her unassisted goal at 58:58. It was Elliott's fourth goal of the season.

The MAAC's leading scorer Rosie Luzak would score for Niagara in the final few minutes of play with her unassisted goal at 84:18 but it would not be enough to defeat the Greyhounds.

Loyola outshot Niagara, 20-11 while sophomore goalkeeper Kate Gilfillan stopped eight of Niagara's attempts at the goal. Niagara's Loiselle stopped eight shots as well.

The Greyhounds will now take part in the MAAC tournament to take place on the campus of Rider University from Nov. 7-9.
