Baltimore, Md. - One goal was all the Loyola College women's soccer team needed to extend its winning streak to 10 with a 1-0 win over Niagara Friday afternoon on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. With the win, the Greyhounds remain undefeated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at 8-0-0 and are 13-3-0 overall while the Purple Eagles fall to 9-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the conference.

Ali Andrzejewski scored the lone goal of the game at 21:39 in the first half. The play originated when Naomi Daniels took an indirect kick that was blocked by a Niagara defender, Daniels corralled the ball and crossed it from the right side to an open Andrzejewski for the 1-0 lead and the eventual game winner.

Despite low score, the Greyhounds had several viable chances at the goal but were unable to finish their chances. At 34:03, Carolyn Kennington beat her defender to feed the ball into to Daniels. Daniels tried to get the ball up and over Niagara keeper Katy Owings but Owings was able to get a hand on the ball for the save. In the second half, Kennington had a beautiful kick from 15 feet out but again Owings was able to get a hold of the ball. The Greyhounds finished the game with a 25-2 advantage in shots.

Junior Kate Gilifillan stopped the one Niagara shot on goal and recorded her fifth consecutive shutout. Owings stopped 10 shots for the Purple Eagles.

The Greyhounds finish their regular season Sunday, October 31st by hosting Canisius on Alumnae Field at 1:00. It will be the final home game for Loyola seniors Leigh Ann Mastrini, Jeannetta McGettigan, Erica Niemann, Ellen Sroka and Lindsay Tracey.
