Women's Soccer Continues Winning Streak by Shutting Out Rider, 3-0

Lawrenville, N.J. - The Loyola College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to nine games with a 3-0 win over Rider Saturday afternoon. Junior Ali Andrzejewski tallied a hat-trick to lead the Greyhounds who improve to 12-3-0 overall and remain undefeated in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at 7-0. The Broncs fall to 9-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the MAAC.
After a scoreless first half, the Andrzejewski got the offense started with her goal assisted by Ashley Kramer at 55:36. The duo had a repeat performance just under two minutes later to take a 2-0 lead. And with just over five minutes left, Andrzejewski completed her three goal performance for the 3-0 win.
In the first half, the Broncs held a 5-4 lead in shots but once Loyola got started, it finished the game with a 17-8 advantage. Rider held a 4-1 lead in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Kate Gilfillan and the Greyhound defense posted their seventh shutout in nine games. Gilfillan made four saves in goal. Rider's Kim Carter stopped six Loyola attempts.
In the last nine games, Loyola has outscored its opponents 27-3.
The Greyhounds will finish the 2004 regular season at home with games against Niagara on Friday, Oct. 29 and Canisius on Sunday, Oct. 31.
