BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland Women's Soccer team celebrated senior day on Sunday, defeating the Canisius Golden Griffins, 4-1, at Ridley Athletic Complex in its final home game of the season.

With the win, the Greyhounds move to 9-4-4 overall (5-1-1 MAAC), while the Golden Griffins fall to 4-14-0 (2-6-0 MAAC).

Prior to the game, Loyola celebrated Senior Day, congratulating 12 seniors on their commitment and dedication to the team. The seniors went out in style, scoring all four goals and contributing all five assists for the Greyhounds in the win.

Tessa McClenahan posted the first score less than two minutes into regulation. Kelsey Donohue crossed a pass from inside the box, past the goalkeeper, and McClenahan was there to deliver, as she walked the ball across the line.

Senior Brittany Yancey scored the second Greyhound goal, finishing a give-and-go. Yancey initiated the play to fellow senior Gigi Mangione, who cut up the middle of the field. Mangione sent the ball back to Yancey on the right side, and she shot it past Golden Griffin goalie Megan Tock.

Canisius came back early in the second half, with a goal from midfielder Megan Mahoney less than two minutes into the period. She slipped through the Greyhound defense with a low shot from ten yards out.

Canisius could not keep up the momentum, however, as the Greyhounds recorded 11 shots in the second half to the Golden Griffins two.

Loyola came back to score when Lauren Norcia won a header off a goal kick, sending it to Nichole Schiro who chiped in over the goalkeeper.

Coming off the assist, Norcia came back to score the final goal for the Greyhounds. Schiro passed to Yancey on the right side inside the box, and she sent a perfect cross past Tock toward the far post. Norcia then finished it out, taping it in from two yards out.

Loyolawill finish out the regular season on the road. The Greyhounds play at Marist on Friday at 7 p.m., and Siena on Sunday at 1 p.m.
