Women's Soccer Rolls Past Saint Peter's, 4-0
Oct. 19, 2003
BALTIMORE, MD - Loyola College dominated Saint Peter's, 4-0, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer match-up on Curley Field Sunday afternoon. The Greyhounds improved to 7-7-1 overall and stay undefeated in the MAAC at 4-0-1 while Saint Peter's fell to 1-12-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
Sophomore Naomi Daniels made the initial score for Loyola when she rebounded Caroyln Kennington's initial shot off the post at 26:07. Just minutes later, with the clock at 33:21, junior Jeannetta McGettigan scored her third goal of the season on a direct pass from sophomore Ashley Kramer for a 2-0 Loyola lead.
Kennington would go on to score the first goal of the second half, her eighth of the season, when she again took a shot that bounced right back from the far left post, corralled the ball and got it past Saint Peter's keeper Angelina Albruzzese on the second attempt at 48:48.
For the final Loyola goal, sophomore Leigh Ann Mastrini scored on a penalty kick at 77:32.
The Loyola defense held Saint Peter's without a single shot attempt, outshooting the Peahens, 14-0. Albruzzese made for saves for SPC while junior Erica Niemann earned the shutout for the Greyhounds.
Loyola returns to action next Saturday, Oct. 25 when they face Rider. Game time is set for 1:00.
