LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Nichole Schiro scored in the game's 13th minute, and although Rider University outshot Loyola University Maryland, 20-11, the Greyhounds earned a 1-1 tie against the host Broncs on Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Confernece action.

Loyola (7-4-4 overall, 3-1-1 MAAC) earned a corner kick just over 12 minutes in to the game, and Rosy Hayes struck it into the box where Gigi Mangione flicked it forward.

Schiro finished it with a header, scoring her eight goal of the season, the 38th of her career.

The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime, despite being outshot, 11-3, by Rider (7-3-3, 2-2-1) in the period.

Rider continued on the offensive early in the second half, having a shot blocked and another go wide before Tara Ballay scored on a Demi Mello assist at 56:58 to even the game at 1-1.

Neither team would score the rest of regulation, forcing extra time. Kelsey Donohue had a shot blocked in the first three minutes of overtime, and Rider had two shots go off frame in the initial period.

Didi Haracic made a save on a Kaitlin Wylie shot just over a minute into the second overtime, one of her five saves on the afternoon. Schiro then had a shot stopped by Broncs goalkeeper Jenn Nichols.

"We had a lot of opportunities in the first half, and we showed a lot of fight in the second half and overtime," Loyola Head Coach Katherine Vettori said. "Overtime was a dogfight back and forth, and I'm proud of the way that we battled and got a tie on the road."

The Greyhounds return to Ridley Athletic Complex to close their home schedule next weekend, starting with a 7 o'clock match on Friday, October 19, against Niagara University.
