New Rochelle, NY- The Loyola College women's soccer team picked up their second Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win of the weekend with a 2-1 win over Iona. The Greyhounds imporve to 5-6-1 and stay undefeated in MAAC play at 3-0-1. The Gaels fall to 1-10-2 overall and 0-3-1 in the MAAC.

Loyola scored both of its goals in the first half. Junior Jeanetta McGettigan tallied her second goal of the year in the 24th minute. McGettigan headed in a crossing pass from sophomore Ashley Kramer at 24:31. Loyola took a two-goal lead less than two minutes later on freshman Carolyn Kennington's team-leading sixth goal of the year. Kennington scored on a one-on-one situation with Iona goalkeeper Ticiana DiCarlo. Loyola out shot Iona, 15-3, in the first half.

The Gaels cut the Greyhound lead to one-goal in the 66th minute with freshman Rosamaria Iacono's first collegiate goal after lobbing a shot over the head of Loyola netminder Erica Niemann.

Niemann had three saves in the win while DiCarlo stopped a career-high 13 shots in the loss. Loyola out shot Iona 21-11 for the game.

The Greyhounds will next travel to Pennsylvania for a non-conference match-up with the Quakers on Oct. 15, 2003 before hosting MAAC opponents Manhattan and Saint Peter's on Oct. 17 and 19 respectively.
