Loyola women's soccer won its 10th MAAC title on November 4, 2012, beating Marist College, 2-1.

The women's soccer team defeated American, 2-1, on September 9.
The Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team tied Towson, 1-1, on Aug. 31.
2012 (Senior): Earned second MAAC Tournament MVP award, in 2-1 victory over Marist...Named to the All-MAAC first team...One of ten Greyhounds to earn a spot on the MAAC All-Academic team...Started in all 22 games, leading the midfield with 10 points and two goals, including the penalty kick goal that sparked a 2-1 triumph in the conference championship sending Loyola to the NCAA tournament...Made second national tournament appearance, playing Duke in the first round of the NCAA College Cup (11/10)... Led the team in assists, recording six throughout the season... Finished second on the team in points, with two goals and six assists... Played in a three-game stretch, tabbing an assist in each contest, adding three points to her 10 point total... Scored first individual goal of the season in 4-0 shutout versus Iona (9/28)... Assisted in the game-winning goal against American (9/9)... Made first assist of the season in Loyola's loss at Michigan State (8/24).
2011 (Junior): Played in all 21 games for the Greyhounds as a junior captain, making 18 starts in the midfield... Finished the season with two goals, five assists and nine points, which ranked fourth on the team... Was named to the All-MAAC Second Team and the MAAC All-Academic Team... Assisted on Nichole Schiro's game-winning overtime goal in a, 1-0, win against Saint Peter's (10/30)... Had an assist on Joie McLaughlin's first career goal in a, 6-1, win over Manhattan (10/28)... Scored a the team's first goal and assisted on another in a, 3-2, win at Niagara (10/9)... Assisted on the game-winning goal against American (9/21)... Notched an assist in a 4-2 win over Saint Louis (9/4)... Scored the team's first goal of the season against High Point (9/2).
2010 (Sophomore): Started all 20 games as a central midfielder... Finished second on the team with four goals... Also had two assists for 10 points... Scored her first goal of the year against Creighton in the first game of the adidas/Husker Classic in Lincoln, Neb.... Tallied an assist against UMBC and then scored late in the second half versus Canisius... Scored again at Siena and then had a goal and an assist versus Iona... Took 36 shots, 18 on goal... Member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
2009 (Freshman): Recorded two goals and an assist in 19 games for the Greyhounds as a freshman... Also started at midfield in seven games... Named the MAAC Championship Most Valuable Player after recording game-tying goals in the MAAC Semifinals against Canisius and the Championship Game versus Niagara... Also was successful in the fifth round of penalty kicks in the MAAC Quarterfinals against Manhattan... Played 93 minutes in her collegiate debut against Boston University... Made first collegiate start against Lafayette... Named to the VCU Tournament All-Tournament Team after recording a shot and playing solid all-around soccer... Tallied her first collegiate point with an assist at Iona.
Personal: Gianna Marie Mangione... Daughter of Nick and Danielle Mangione... Has three older siblings, Nick, Nino and Marco, and two younger siblings, Philip and Mia... A number of relatives were student-athletes at Loyola... Her father, Nick, is currently the men's soccer program's fourth all-time leading scorer and was a professional soccer player for the Baltimore Blast and the Kansas City Comets.
