BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse senior Marlee Paton and redshirt junior Taryn VanThof have been named Preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse, as revealed in the organization’s 2014 Faceoff Yearbook. The Greyhounds will also begin the year ranked 11th in the ILWomen Preseason Rankings.

Paton, a first-team honoree for the second-straight season, is coming off a second-straight All-America season. The midfielder led the Greyhounds’ offense with 64 points on a team-best 39 goals and 25 assists last year, while the Seaholme, Australia native also led Loyola with 41 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers. The ninth Greyhound in program history to score 100 goals and dish out 50 assists, she enters her senior season one ground ball shy of 100.

VanThof concluded last season as an IWLCA third-team All-American. The Livonia, N.Y., native returned after redshirting her sophomore season to lead the team, and BIG EAST, with 75 draw controls, one shy of tying the program’s 29-year-old school record (set by Rita Ciletti in 1984). Offensively, she ranked third on the team with 46 points on 28 goals and 18 assists. She also ranked second on the team with 25 caused turnovers and third with 37 ground balls.

The Greyhounds return 10 starters and over 80-percent of its offensive production from a team that advanced to the NCAA Championships for a third-straight year in 2013.
