Nov. 1, 2013
BALTIMORE - US Lacrosse has named Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse assistant coach and Canadian national team midfielder Dana Dobbie a speaker at the US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. Dobbie will join roughly 200 of the sport’s best coaches and officials as presenters at the largest professional development event in the world for lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators Jan. 10-12, 2014, in Philadelphia.
Dobbie will host “Draw-thority” for girls’ lacrosse coaches at 3 p.m. Jan. 10 on the Demo Field in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
“Dana Dobbie is one of the most respected players and coaches in the game when it comes to the draw,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “There may not be a more qualified individual to teach coaches how to teach their players to excel in the circle. We’re glad to have her on board as a speaker.”
“It’s an honor to be selected as a presenter at the US Lacrosse National Convention,” Dobbie said. “The convention is a terrific event to help coaches at all levels prepare for the upcoming season. I’m looking forward to being a part of it."

She also guided midfielder Taryn VanThof to All-America honors in 2013, as the the redshirt sophomore led the BIG EAST with 75 draw controls, a mark that was just one shy of Loyola’s 29-year-old program record.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Dobbie was a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy finalist and two-time All-American in college. She also set the NCAA records for career (334) and single-season (126) draw controls.
